A cute stripe

I have been desperately looking for cute tees that fit and look flattering. Most of what I had before the baby doesn't fit, so it's the perfect excuse for some shopping! I've tried a lot of of shirts over the past few months and nothing seemed right. Then yesterday I went shopping and was so happy to find some shirts that looked great. most of them were splendid, but I didn't see this striped tee -

I love it, and think I will order it. All the stripes I've tried lately were too wide, they wobbled and accentuated parts I didn't want accentuated...this tiny stripe won't do that. Also love that color, it just shouts Spring, yay!

Maternity basics

Somehow I hadn't yet posted my favorite maternity tees that got me through my second and third trimesters, the Gap pure body line. I LOVE these, they are so soft and stretchy and have the nice ruching on the sides that looks cute as the belly grows.

How cute is that? I like the neutral too, but there are several other colors to choose from. Pure body also comes in cap sleeved tees -

New Maternity Line

It's been a while, but I'm trying to make more of an effort to do things I want/need to do for myself. I'm sure all the moms reading this can relate. Somehow the days go by and very little that I wanted to do has been accomplished.

I thought I'd start back by writing about a new line of maternity clothes that look nice - Boden has added Maternity to their lineup! There aren't so many pieces, but the ones they have look very pretty and useful, like this drapey top -

Elegant Drapey Top

It comes in several colors, including a beautiful pink. That's definitely the color I would reach for, it's a great way to brighten up an outfit for Spring, particularly if you are sticking with basics for bottoms (like blue denim, black pants, etc). That was my philosophy for building a maternity wardrobe.

They also have this adorable basic tee -

Everyday Tee

It comes in basic colors as well as the super trendy navy/white stripe shown here. The tops aren't exactly cheap, but I found that buying cheap, while it sounds good, never worked out for me. I never liked the cheap pieces so I never wore them - they didn't hold up, didn't feel good on and just didn't look good.  I preferred to buy less stuff, but make sure they were good quality and looked good on me. And while it's true that by the end of the pregnancy you might be fantasizing of burning those pieces, you will have gotten a ton of wear out of them that makes them worth every penny.

Plus Size Maternity Tops

Finding cute maternity clothes is tough for everyone, but since finding great plus size clothes is difficult without the added maternity aspect, I imagine it can be even tougher to find the good plus size maternity options. But Old Navy maternity and Motherhood actually have some very nice pieces in plus sizes (and the fact that they are inexpensive is great!). These are a couple of my favorites -

Cute Plaid Shirts

The plaid shirt or tunic is at all the maternity stores for fall. If you like the style you can find it in a large range of price points and type of fabrics. They all look great with leggings or jeans alone, or with jeans and a blazer for fall and winter.

This one from Old Navy is gauzy and thin-

A first layer for a first post

Welcome to my new blog! I still have my "regular" one going, Shopping Made Simple, but as my own fashion needs have changed I thought I might share what I find. I'm about 21 weeks along at the moment, and just in the past couple of weeks have had to move to almost only maternity clothes (thank goodness for flowy tops that are so popular these days), certainly pants and skirts anyway. The first problem I found, was that tanks and camisoles were getting too short. Or perhaps I should say my belly has been getting a little too big for my normal tanks and camisoles to cover it all!

Lucky for me I found these Old Navy camisoles early on -

Old Navy Maternity Seamless Layering Tanks

They are a great thick stretchy fabric that would smooth anyone out under all kinds of tops, or act as a great layer under sweaters as Fall approaches...they come in black as shown above, as well as white and nude. I got my first one in nude and have worn it so much I want to get the other two colors. It's really long, and has a lot of room to grow in the belly - perfect!
