A New Necklace for a Treat

When you no longer have the body you used to, and don't really want to buy new clothes but still would like something new to make you feel nice, how about a gorgeous new necklace? That's what I've been thinking about recently anyway, this Alexis Bittar necklace would certainly do the trick -



It's a great pop of color, with interesting detail. The best part, you know it will always fit (which would make it the perfect gift)!

New Maternity Line

It's been a while, but I'm trying to make more of an effort to do things I want/need to do for myself. I'm sure all the moms reading this can relate. Somehow the days go by and very little that I wanted to do has been accomplished.

I thought I'd start back by writing about a new line of maternity clothes that look nice - Boden has added Maternity to their lineup! There aren't so many pieces, but the ones they have look very pretty and useful, like this drapey top -

It comes in several colors, including a beautiful pink. That's definitely the color I would reach for, it's a great way to brighten up an outfit for Spring, particularly if you are sticking with basics for bottoms (like blue denim, black pants, etc). That was my philosophy for building a maternity wardrobe.

They also have this adorable basic tee -

It comes in basic colors as well as the super trendy navy/white stripe shown here. The tops aren't exactly cheap, but I found that buying cheap, while it sounds good, never worked out for me. I never liked the cheap pieces so I never wore them - they didn't hold up, didn't feel good on and just didn't look good.  I preferred to buy less stuff, but make sure they were good quality and looked good on me. And while it's true that by the end of the pregnancy you might be fantasizing of burning those pieces, you will have gotten a ton of wear out of them that makes them worth every penny.

The Best Stroller Ever

I know I posted about our stroller before, but now that Nathaniel has arrived and we use it I have to post it again because we are in love with it. I cannot imagine a better stroller. It's such a smooth ride, incredibly easy to fold or expand, and even though it's not light it is easy to carry thanks to the thoughtful design, plus it folds quite compactly. Basically, it's a dream.

This is a link to the 2010 version that we have (which is on sale now - it's a great deal!) but there is also a 2011 version with a slightly more padded seat and a new deep purple color.

The bassinet attachment has been amazing for taking our little guy out around the neighborhood -

But there is also the car seat adapter that allows you to snap your car seat onto a frame so there is no need for the seat.

I love that, it's less bulky and really streamlined. Just pull the stroller frame out of the trunk, snap on the adapter and then snap the car seat into it. It's got the ease of the snap and go but the quality and smooth ride of the best stroller ever.

Favorite Nursing Tank and Bra

While I've only been nursing for less than 6 weeks, I feel like a pro already (as well as a dairy cow!) Before going into labor (almost 3 weeks early) I had bought some nursing tanks. I planned to get bras as well but little Nathaniel had other plans. I bought three different kinds of tanks, 2 of the expensive brands that everyone talks about (Glamourmom and Bravado) and one from Target. After a very short time, I had a definite clear favorite -

This Bravado tank is so supportive, actually attractive and flattering, and comfortable. It puts the other ones to shame. The glamourmom tank just has a weird shape that doesn't flatter, and the target one is such crap after one wash the straps were stretched out and the seams on the neckline were coming out. This Bravado one holds up so well and is so great, I've already bought more of them AND this nursing bra by them as well -

 

This company is making nursing a little easier for me, and allowing me to get back into regular clothes! The tanks are great under looser tops and cardigans, and the bra works under anything. It makes a big difference to a new mom to like what we see in the mirror so I'm extolling the virtues of these products.

Hi there. It's been a while and I have been quite busy  - basically doing ALOT of research for this blog. Mainly because our son Nathaniel was born on December 9th, and now I have 5 weeks of experiences with all kinds of stuff I can't wait to write about - if I have a minute during a nap to get it typed and posted! stroller decisions

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted. I've been totally preoccupied by all the baby prep I guess, including choosing a stroller. We finally made our choice - the Baby Jogger City Select.

I'm so excited about this stroller, it moves well, has great wheels, easy to fold (as are all baby joggers!) and it turns into a fantastic double - yes we are thinking that far ahead!

We haven't chosen an umbrella stroller yet, since we won't be able to use it in the beginning anyway, but I'm falling in love with the Uppa Baby G-Luxe -

It's one of the lightest umbrella strollers with full recline available at 11 pounds.It's also got good wheels, a nice sized basket, and it stands on its own when it's folded. I'm sold!
